Un duetto straordinario che si riassume in Pictures Reframed la capacità espressiva ed artistica del pianista norvegese Leif Ove Andsnes e il visula artist Robin Rhode — in una performance collaborativa il cui centro ispiratore è la straordinaria suite per pianoforte di Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition.

Composta nel 1874, l'opera di Mussorgsky oggi ritrova nuova forma espressiva ed interpretativa con un'attenta sperimentazione nell'arte visiva, grazie alle geniali intuizioni del sudafricano Robin ed una emozionale interpretazione musicale dalle mani di Leif.
L'opera Pictures at an Exhibition di Mussirgsky è uno delle più travolgenti e famose opere di musica classica.

Robin Rhode e Leif Ove Andsnes hanno lavorato assieme per ricomporre un programma che unisce musica, immagini e video in una performance evocativa e che sarà sicuramente una pietra miliare nel campo delle arti espressive moderne.

Il pensiero di Leif Ove Andsnes è straordinariamente riassunto in questo pensiero, quando parla di Pictures at an Exhibition.

“There are pieces of music where you feel everything’s there, everything is said.
Pictures at an Exhibition is the juxtaposition to this making it a perfect composition to experiment with as Mussorgsky’s music is incredibly strong but it’s also very open and experimental.

The main thing isn`t the notes themselves, but the composer’s grand vision.
For me therefore, the original version of the work remains almost as a sketch that is open for transformations and changes.”

“It is risky to take on a project where you are making your own artistic interpretation of such a famously classical work but not because of its experimental nature. I don’t think that it’s a piece which can actually be tied down.

As Leif Ove was saying, the fact that it exists as a kind of a sketch allows for these various interpretations.”

Il risultato di questa unione fantastica è l'uscita di un cofanetto speciale contenente CD, DVD e libretto che "racconta" con una multivisione di prospettive l'esperimento che riteniamo assolutamente riuscito.
